Music and Gender
As I talked about in my last blog entry, I explained how I really love Bad Bunny’s music. The main reason behind this is because of how it promotes my culture. His music is considered to be in the reggaeton genre. In this genre, most of the Spanish-speaking rappers are all men, such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, and much more. There are really not many Latina women that are rappers. You find most women singing more classic genres, such as salsa or merengue. However, recently, there have been more females that have become very popular, such as Karol G, Rosalía, and Young Miko. Young Miko is one that I really enjoy because she is from Puerto Rico and has featured in one of Bad Bunny’s songs. It is interesting how I am usually introduced to these female rappers from being featured in different songs. The song that I embedded is where Bad Bunny featured Young Miko.
